NFL Week 8 Lead Pipe Lock Pick

Detroit (+5.5) over the Bears

Keeping with last week's theme, let's just take Deetwah and see what happens. 

So Griese goes 97 yards and the victory against the Eagles and suddenly the local media skewering of the Bears inept offense subsides.  If the Bears secondary struggles to keep up with the Lions passing game, the Bears offense is going to have to show up before the 4th quarter today. 

It would be nice to see a consistent running game to pound the ball, run clock, and keep the Lions O tethered to the sidelines.  Or how about blocking Shawn Rogers so he doesn't end up looking like a world-beater (again) against the Bears aging offensive line?  And can we stop tossing 4 yard outs to the tight ends on 3rd and 7?  Is that asking too much?

NFL Week 7 Lead Pipe Lock Pick

Eagles (-6) over the Bears

Why on earth do I even attempt making these picks?  I'm still not sure, but maybe if I go against the Bears, they might actually show up and tackle somebody on defense this week. 

Adrian Peterson and the Vikings o-line demolished the Bears last Sunday.  Add in the fact that Peterson was also returning kickoffs at 30 yards a crack, and it won't surprise me if the comparisons to Gale Sayers start happening.  Personally, I haven't seen a running back do that to the Bears since the time Barry Sanders broke off some ridiculous 60-yard run where eight Bears missed tackling him and Barry drove safety John Mangum like a hood ornament into the end zone.   

So today we get to find out how angry the Bears were about getting shit-canned on their home field.  For all the resolve and composure Lovie Smith seems to exude, the Bears locker room sure sounds like a bitchy lot.  That's why tears of joy ran down my face last week when this commercial for the Hoveround Power Chair came on during a Comcast SportsNite broadcast.  The Bears need to stop bull-shitting themselves into believing how good they are and prove it on the field (awful, awful cliche...)  Otherwise, just order up a bunch of these chairs for the little babies at Halas Hall.

NFL Week 6 Lead Pipe Lock Pick

Titans (+2.5) over the Bucs

No time to discuss.  The Bucs can't stop the run, and their record is a mirage.  Who have they beaten?  The Titans young defense is starting to gel and Vince Young is the only offensive playmaker on either side of the field.  The Titans win ugly, and this one won't look pretty either.

Overall Season Record:  2-3

Chargers (EVEN) over the Broncos

There's just no avoiding the fact that these picks have been horrendous, but that's not going to stop me from making them.  Besides, all of Chicago is too busy second guessing Sweet Lou's handling of the Cubs pitching staff (pull Zambrano too early?  leave Lilly too long?) to care about these shitty picks.

Well just like the Cubbies, the Chargers are a desperate team in need of a win.  The Broncos run defense is suspect, and their running game is going up in smoke.  Literally.  Travis Henry just can't say no to Mary Jane, and now he faces a 1-year suspension from the NFL.  If the Chargers lose this game, Norv Turner might not make it through this season as a head coach.
